Troyes City Guide:


Troyes is the main city in Aube department, Champagne-Ardenne region, France. Troyes was originally built in the Roman era. Some remains from the Gallo Roman period can still be seen in Troyes. Most of the remains are Roman aqueducts, which are public places used for bathing. There is no public Roman monument in Troyes. Troyes has 8 museums including Musée d'Art Moderne, Museum of hosiery, Saint-Loup Museum and etc. Di Marco Museum is opened annually from 1st of April to 1st of October. Troyes' churches did not undergo destructions from wars that took place in the past. There are numerous old churches in the downtown area. Many church buildings are grouped together in an area.


Troyes is famous for the 16th century buildings. You can observe 16th century houses as you stroll along the town. Many prominent hotels are located in Troyes including Hotel de Marisy and Hotel de Ville. Hotel de Villa is located in a public square called Place Alexandre Israel. The hotel was built to reflect the style of King Louis XIII. On top of the entrance to Hotel du Ville, there is a statue that depicts Helmeted Minerva. Troyes also have other museums including Museum of Modern Art, Di Marco Museum an etc.


There are several 0old churches in Troyes in downtown. The largest church I Troyes is Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul Cathedral. Sainte-Madeleine features Saint Martha statue. Saint-Nicolas Church has two statues featuring David and Isaiah. Saint Remy Church has a cooked spire that measures about 200 feet. Saint Remy Church also has an ancient clock, which is a sundial. Saint-Urbain Basilica is also a popular church in Troyes. The roof tiles of Saint-Urbain Basilica are covered with polished tiles. Saint-Martin-es-Vignes has stained glass windows that feature arts from the 17th century.

Many restaurants are situated at Rue Champeaux and Rue PIthout. There are also restaurants at Rue Urbain IV, Rue Paillot de Montabert and Rue Louis Ulbach.

Gare de Troyes connects visitors to many regional destinations in France. Troyes has many motorways that link visitors to destinations such as Langres, Milan, Paris, Reims, Calais and etc. Visitors who prefer to travel by air can get flight tickets at Troyes – Barbarey Airport.

Train to Troyes::
