Poitiers is the capital of Vienne department, Poitou-Charentes region, France. It is situated in between the gap of Armorican and Central Massif. Though it undergone destructions and renovation several times, many Latin architecture details still remains. Today, the baptistery is a minor museum that exhibits various types of sarcophagi stones date back to the period in between 500 A.D. – 700 A.D.


Eglise Sainte-Radegode-de-Poitiers is a church that is built for Sainte Radegonde. Eglise de Montierneuf is an 11th century church that is well known for its Romanesque architecture. Eglise Saint-Hilaire-le-Grand is one of the heritage monuments listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Musee Sainte Crox is a museum that offers various kinds of exhibitions on preshistoric artifacts, fine arts and modern arts. Many objects from the medieval period can be found in the museum. At the museum, you can find sculptures created by famous artists such as Camille Claudel, L'Ame de la France and etc.

Palace of Poitiers is also a frequently visited attraction place in Poitiers. Palace of Poitiers used to be the residence of counts and dukes from the 10th – 12th centuries. It features three monumental stoves in the grand hall. The grant hall of the palace has Gothic Flamboyant statuary.

Pointiers railway station offers transportation to Paris, Angouleme, Bordeaux and etc. The journey ride of the TGV high speed train to Paris is 1 hour and 40 minutes. Poitiers – Biard Airport offers connections to the surrounding regions including Lyon Saint Exupery, Birmingham and etc. Cars are not allowed to travel on selected streets in Pointiers.
