Nancy City Guide:


Nancy is the capital of Meurthe-et-Moselle department, Lorraine region, France. Some interesting sights in the town include Place Stanislas, Musee de l' Ecole de Nancy, Jardin botanique du Montet, Jardin Dominique Alexandre Godron, Pepiniere and Parc Sainte-Marie.


Place Stanislas is a large pedestrian paved with ochre stones. If you go to Place Stanislas, you will find that the pavement has diagonal cross motifs. The width and length of the public square are respectively 106 m and 125 m. Several buildings are located around the public square including City Hall of Nancy, Opera-Theatre, and Fine Arts Museum. In the center of the square, visitors can observe the Arc de Triomphe. Arc de Triomphe is annexed to Place de la Carriere. A pedestal that is made from polished marble can be found at the square. There is also a statue in the middle of the public square. The statue, which was designed by Georges Jacquot, features a man wearing long robes and wielding a sword in his left hand.


Musee de l'Ecole de Nancy is a museum that is dedicated to Ecole de Nancy. It was established as a result of Art Nouveau movement in 1901. The museum was previously the house of Ecole de Nancy. You will be able to explore the small garden and aquarium. The museum displays artworks from popular artists that are living in Nancy town. Different types of items are displayed at the museum including furniture, artistic objects, glass ware, textiles and etc. Majority of the artwork collections are original. Guided tours are available from May to October on weekdays and weekends. Jardein botanique du Montet and other public botanical gardens are open daily. The admission for the botanical gardens is not free.

Nancy has a high speed train station called Gare de Nancy-Ville. It offers route services to many regions in France including Paris, Strasbourg and etc. Besides, Nancy also offers public transportation such as tram, and trolley buses.

At night, you can go shopping at the stores located around Place Stanislas. Many eateries around Place Stanislas are opened until midnight. The eateries offer various types of delicious refreshments such as pastries, breads and other local cuisines. Place Stanislas is illuminated with lights at night and suitable for people that like to watch night scenery.

Train to Nancy::
