Transpennine Express Train is one of the most reputed companies of Great Britain, which is associated with the train operation. The company was first established in the year 1998 by Northern Spirit, and Arriva Trains Northern was in the charge of its maintenance till 2004. But after the year 2004 the company was running by the joint venture of First Group having 55% share and Keolis which has 45% of the share. On account of the change in ownership the company is now being renamed as First Transpennine Trains. An optional extension from April 2014 to March 2015 is being granted in the favor of this Franchise which was previously expected to run from 2004-2012.
The vehicle provides passenger services in the places of North England which is popular for its scenic beauty. Northern England is well known for its panoramic beauty for many of its beautiful coastlines along with their vast greeneries. The towns of the region have a touch of both modernism and medieval architecture. But it is impossible for the tourists to roam in this huge landmass and to get a taste of all those aesthetic places by themselves. So they prefer to hire Transpennine trains, which take them to their distant destinations and wrap up both the main cities and scenic routes as well. The route mainly covers up the North of England which includes the coastlines and a range of economically influential cities like Liverpool, Leeds, Hull, Manchester and New Castle. More than sixty trains of the company run in this very route to provide services to the tourists. The train service is available throughout the year including the public holidays. However apart from Northern part of England, it also offers its services in both North Western and Southern routes of the nation.
It is expected that the train will provide utmost comfort to the tourists by including fleet of new trains of passengers' cars manufactured by Siemens of Germany. The vehicle has adopted latest equipments and machineries in association with modern technological field for making its engines most up to date which has the capability to reduce the traveling time as well as to run at a very high speed. Apart from carrying passengers to distant places of Europe, it is also engage for the transportation of various commodities from one part to another. As mentioned earlier that the train runs in north, north western and southern parts of the nation, it covers a huge landmass.
The northern route, which consists of a huge area between Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly will be able to see four trains running per hour in between the two mentioned places. In the southern route the automobile runs from Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport via Scunthorpe, Manchester Piccadilly, Sheffield, Stockport and Doncaster. Tourists will get an hourly facility of the vehicle in this route. In the north western part of the nation TransPennine Express provides three rail services which runs from Windermere to Manchester Airport via Preston, Manchester Piccadilly, Lancaster and Bolton. The franchise deals with mainly two different units of the vehicle – class 170 and class 185. However when initially launched, it dealt with only class 175 and class 158.
Special offers are provided by the management to the passengers associated with the various fields of life. Students get the opportunity to travel in the train with tickets which cost half of its usual price. Personnel associated with the armed force enjoy 50% off in the train fare. Various special offers and cheap ticket prices are provided to the passengers of all age groups in different festive occasions.
