Described in 1323 as one of Paris's three most important buildings, the Notre Dame de Paris is still today used by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Paris. Relics of the Crown of Thorns are purported to be in the cathedral's treasury, and the building itself is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in Europe.


The Arc de Triomphe is a large monument in the center of 5 intersections and marks the start of Champs Elysees, the most prestigious avenue in Paris full of restaurants, stores, and coffee places. The Arc de Triomphe was built at the beginning of the 19th century by Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the most famous army generals and monarchs to symbolize triumph and victory. Even today, Bastille events of French Independence are centered around the Arc and the famous Tour de France, a bicycle race within Paris, ends there.


Centre Pompidou houses a funky collection of modern art and architecture as well as music, literature, theater and film. The architecture of the building itself is quite distinct. The museum opened in 1977. There are many interesting exhibits and collections. In addition, there are multiple gift shops and bookstores as well as great boutiques and restaurants.


The Museum of Science and Industry (Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie) is a wonderful attraction for families with children. There are interactive exhibits on science sure to impress and entertain adults and kids. There is an area devoted to children. Various shows and movies are offered.


Lastly, one of the most visited attractions is the Musee d'Orsay. It includes one of the largest collections of impressionistic painting as well as sculpture and photography created between 1848 and 1914. You can marvel at the paintings of Monet, Degas, Manet, Gaugin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh and Delacroix.
