Volcanic ash clouds send Air passengers rush to Channel Tunnel

Rush on Eurostar StationDisruption to air travel in Europe due to Volcano clouds sends thousands of extra passengers swamped Eurostar, the Channel Tunnel train between London to Paris on Friday. Ash clouds of an Icelandic Volcano hit to flight services in across the Europe. Thousands of passengers are stuck on airports after that incident and trying to take alternative transport to get back to home.

The Eurostar Channel Tunnel rail service laid 3 extra trains between Paris and London but seats rapidly filled up. The company said ten thousand (10000) more people tried to book Eurostar seats on Friday. “We’ve never seen so many passengers on such a day, when normally we’d transport between 26,000 and 28,000 people,” said a Eurostar spokeswoman. Eurostar already mentioned on the website that “We would ask that you only come to our stations if you hold a confirmed reservation for travel.” The Eurostar also mentioned the information of 3 extra London Paris Train on the website with train no. and time table.

According to a spokesperson of P & O Ferries Company, they had carried 11,000 passengers across the Channel on Friday and Saturday while normally they carry only few hundred, most of the passengers were returning to the UK.
