Some of the trains in world that will blow your mind with their speed

Europe and Asia has a great Railway transport system with many high speed trains. There are many trains that have crosses speed of 400 Kph. Here are some of the super fast trains that are known for their high speed.

ICE V

ICE is the short form of Intercity Experimental train which is high speed train in West Germany. This project was funded by West Germany government in 1980. It was a part of program in which Germany pushed its train services to advance level.

ICE V has two powered engines on each end of the 3 passenger cars. Length of train is about 372.1 feet. Highest speed achieved by ICE V is 282.8 mph that is around 406.9 kph. It was achieved by a special version of ICE V that had 2 passenger units instead of regular 3 and an upgraded wiring that connected two engines together.

Transrapid 06

Transrapid 06 is another German train that have achieved a record speed of 256 mph i.e. 412 kph on a test in 1988. This train runs on Maglev technology which is short form of Magnetic levitation in which a series of powerful magnets are used to lift the train and propel it. This technology is faster, smoother and quieter than others.

This project started in 1980. It achieved its top speed at Transrapid test facility in Emsland, Germany. This train is yet not functional in Germany, but there are plans for it.

MLU002N

MLU002N is a train in Japan that uses maglev technology, described before in Transrapid 06. MLU002N achieved a top speed 267.8 mph i.e. 411 kph, during an unmanned test between Sakaigawa and Akiyama.

This train uses aerodynamics breaks that are similar to flaps of wings of airplane. This train has not been used as public transport.

Eurostar

Eurostar is a well know train service in Western Europe that connect two continents via Chunnel tunnel. It provides trains from London to Paris, Brussels, and many other important destinations. It runs at a top speed of around 300 Kph i.e. 186 mph.

It is most popular travel option in Western Europe. Time taken by Eurostar train is less than flights and Eurostar prices are also affordable.

Shinkansen

Shinkansen is another high speed train in Japan that is used as a regular transport option. These trains are also known as Bullet trains. Shinkansen has achieved a top speed of 443 kph i.e. 275 mph during a test trail in 1996. Today it connects many major cities in Japan.

Switzerland is widely known for its mountain range. It has Alps range in South and Jura in Northwest. There are also central plateau of rolling hills and large lakes.

Switzerland has 9 main cities which are Zurich, Geneva, Berne, Basel, Lausanne, Lucerne, Zermatt, Solothurn and Interlaken.

Switzerland is connected with all part of Europe by trains. Some of the major rail routes are:

1. TGV trains with several train services daily from Paris, Nice, Dijon and Avignon.

2. There are hourly trains from Milan that connects all parts of Italy.

3. ICE trains from Zurich to Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Frankfurt which are further connected to Amsterdam, Hamburg and Berlin.

4. Night trains, Euro Night or CityNight Light are available from Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Hamburg, Prague and Venice to Geneva, Zurich and Basel. Some trains are available to Lausanne.

5. If you are travelling from London to Switzerland than you have also option of taking Eurostar trains. Eurostar provides services from London to Switzerland with TGV Lyria. In this service you travel from London to Paris by Eurostar and then change at Paris to TGV to travel further to Zurich, Geneva or other major destinations in Switzerland.
